FIU College of Law Immigrant Children's Justice Clinic
Under supervising attorney, Ms. Torres represented minor children in dependency proceedings as a Certified Legal Intern before the Eleventh and Fifteenth Judicial Circuit. Ms. Torres also conducted client interviews and drafted documents including: petitions, orders, motions, and affidavits.
Honorable Nushin G. Sayfie, Eleventh Judicial Circuit Court of Florida
Ms. Torres was a judicial intern for the Honorable Nushin G. Sayfie, an Administrative Circuit Court Judge for the Eleventh Judicial Circuit of Florida. During her clerkship, Ms. Torres conducted legal research and drafted legal memoranda and orders. She also witnessed numerous court proceedings including: voir dire, trials, motions, sentencing, evidentiary hearings, and bond hearings.
Miami-Dade County Commission on Ethics & Public Trust
Ms. Torres was a summer legal intern for the Miami-Dade County Commission on Ethics & Public Trust. There she assisted in the research and drafting of informal opinions interpreting the County’s Conflict of Interest and Code of Ethics Ordinance.
Miami-Dade Office of the State Attorney
During Ms. Torres’ undergrad career, she interned at the Miami-Dade Office of the State Attorney in the victim-witness division, where she assisted next of kin victims throughout the trial process.

During Ms. Torres’ 3L year, she was involved in a trial advocacy course where she conducted a full simulated trial in front of the court. Her experience includes: preparing witnesses, conducting direct and cross examination, delivering opening and closing statements, making objections, arguing motions, introducing exhibits, writing evidentiary memorandums, and mastering the federal rules of evidence.

Ms. Torres earned her undergraduate degree from Florida International University, where she graduated Cum Laude with a Bachelor of Arts in Criminal Justice. Ms. Torres was a seven time Dean’s List recipient in undergrad and a three time Dean’s List recipient in law school. Ms. Torres began her legal career at St. Thomas University School of Law, where she later transferred from being the top 15% of her class.

Ms. Torres was sponsored by FIU College of Law to be one of the representatives of the law school and attended the 2014 Hispanic National Bar Association (HNBA) Annual Convention in Washington, D.C. The Annual Convention attracts hundreds of prominent professionals within the legal community and focuses on celebrating the Hispanic heritage. The event included a three-day program featuring Continuing Legal Education (CLE) panels on cutting edge topics, workshops, networking events, and several other social activities showcasing the nation’s capitol.
The convention celebrated the important milestones in our nation’s history and the 50th anniversary of the Civil Rights Act of 1964.
